91 integra cable to hydro questions
Ok, so I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I am swapping a hydro gsr transmission into my 91 integra and need to get a few final details.
My question is, my hydro trans obviously has an electronic vss and my car came with a cable setup, what is easiest to do for this swap, buy a cable vss and drop it in the hydro trans? If I do that will the inner speed gear on the diff match up to the gear on the cable vss? I know the stock vss is hooked into the power steering system but I have removed power steering so I do not need to worry about that.

Well I had searched a lot and found nothing but when I altered my search some more just now it seems that the cable unit will be fine in my trans.
I know for the D-series you just use the cable VSS. What I don't know about is if you can use an early cable transmission VSS in a late style cable (YS1) or hydro trans. I'm quite sure it fits the trans, just not sure if the drive gear is different.
Which cable VSS was it? YS1 or something else? I know YS1 will work since it's just a hydro trans in a cable case for all intents and purposes.
i know when we put a ys1 into my bros crx and tryed using the vss that came with the old cable tranny it fit fine but broke the speedo cable when drove....i assumed it was the vss gear was diff. than the gear on the ys1 diff but i cant say for sure as we didnt go any further, just left it broke. its a b20 non vtec anyway so wasnt worryed bout the speedo.lol
