Not extremely experienced with working on cars but my car is running, that battery light just randomly started doing this. It will now do it every time i turn on my car and dont have the gas pressed, my stereo is not working as well. It is a brand new alternator, i know that doesnt mean it could not be bad but should i get it tested? Is it more likely to be a short or bad ground somewhere? I have checked most of my grounds, i couldve easily missed some but am not sure. Please help if possible, if any further information is required let me know!

If its new I would suspect its the problem. Sounds like a bad voltage regulator, I would try to exchange it while you still can.

Your stereo not working is likely another issue, start by checking all the fuses.
