My ls trannny is making a whining sound (like going in reverse not that loud, but a noticeable "weee") only a LOW RPM and like at 20mph, it does it a 1st, then get a lil be louder at 2nd, then everything is ok at 3rd,4rd, 5th.

The sound goes away if i push the gas, its only make it when i stop pushing gas and RPM start to go down.

What could this be, i opened the tranny last week and only first gear set teeth had a lil be wear out.

What should i check?.

 

The ISB (input shaft bearing) is closest to 1st gear, and the noise/jerks gets progressively quieter as you go up in gears. Check your other bearings for play too.

 

The sound goes away if i push the clutch in, i thought if the ISB was bad it will continue to make the noise even with the clutch in.

 

And it's only making this sound when the car is moving.

 

Nope. The noise only goes away with the clutch in.

Honestly it sounds like a chipped tooth on 2nd or a mixmatched gearset to me.

Before opening up the tranny last week and disassembly it, it was making this noise from all the gear but not that loud, but now its only making it on 2nd gear and lil be more louder, here is a video i recorderd from 1:20 to 2:00 you can clear hear it. From 4:00 you can see the full push from 1-3 gear

You can notice how it disappear on 3rd gear, and its only making in on LOW RPM 2nd gear.

 

I watched your video, but honestly, between me having a little hearing loss and the loud exhaust I really can't tell you anything from the video.

Did you replace the ISB when you had it apart? If not start there.

 

I didnt replace the ISB, cause it didnt see to be bad. If you put the video on time 1:20 you can hear the noise when i stop pushing gas, its like a "weee" noise.

 

The ISB is bad. Replace it.
