So I have a 89 Honda Civic Hatch DX and it didn't come with a Tach, so instead of installing a aftermarket one; how would I do a cluster swap? I have tried putting different clusters in my car from a 90' and it says its plug and play but the cluster instrument's holes would't line up with the harness on the dash...

an aftermarket one would be your best bet. all though i have heard of people doing a full dash swap did you try a si dash im thinking that would work. and that has the tach on it.

 

i think there are wiring differences between 88-89 and 90-91 years. try to find an 88-89 cluster with tach before going aftermarket.

 

What he said, and forget the tacky aftermarket crap which would be more work anyway. Get the right cluster and it is plug and play.
