Changing colors on interior panels
I know I am not the first to think about thins, so I am looking for some information about it. Rather than change out all my interior plastics ( door panels, dash, ect ect ) I was wondering if anyone has found a way to change the color of your interior that looks factory quality.
Finding the EM1 interior panels are not the easiest of things to find, so I'm trying to go another route. Any experiences and information would be great.

I know some auto stores sell paints you can use to paint the plastic parts without leaving a sticky residue. I find it best to use black because it dries faster and covers up the original panel color easier. I'm sure you could do any color as long as it's the right type of paint and applied in the right way. I'm considering doing my plastics in white.
I'm sure there is some form of a paint that is to be applied, but I don't want to go a cheap route with it, which is why I'm inquiring. I was thinking that maybe the door panels and dash needed to be dyed, but I have not looked into that just yet.
I just got done painting all of my interior plastics and dash with the flat black from the parts stores. It's a dupli color vinyl and interior paint. It covers really well, resists runs and looks good. The only downside I found is that the vinyl dash pad did not come out the same color. The vinyl is darker and there wasn't really anything I could do about it. I guess a couple more coats on the plastic might have done something, but I doubt it.

I followed this when I did mine, I used SEM paint. Have not had any issues, looks OEM.

SEM is the absolute best. I used it to color change my entire interior. Make sure u get landau black. Check my sig for a link to my build thread for pics.
Yep, SEM interior dye. Interior dyes are even used in restoration projects. My father in law is using a red interior dye for his 63 vette on some parts they just don't make anymore. Came straight from Corvette America or Long Island Corvette. Regardless when properly used interior dyes are solid.
I saw about PPG product and something that is used in a spray gun fashion... Anyone know the costs associated with going this route?

SEM's launda black is great and is proving to be much more durable!!!
It's not flat black it looks like the oem black... Maybe if you only put 1 coat on it'll peal but mines been on about 4 months with abuse and its still holding up. It's just another option tho
