D16A6 Intake mani
What will I need to do to fit a D16A6 intake manifold to my D16y7? Will it do anything for me performance wise or is the D16y8 better? I need as much info as possible. Thanks!

Can someone give me some detailed info on why this is or is not a good idea to install on my D16Y7? I already have the intake manifold from a CRX si that I got for free thanks to Chris who is also on HT. Someone let me know please!
your mani only has 2 injectors
the other one has 4 and the throttle body is inline as opposed to upwards......
other then that i dont know

Anyway,
Don't bother with the A6 manifold. It WON'T be worth your time and heres why;
The D16Y7 uses a temp/IACV combo sensor/valve built into the throttle body. Because of that setup, the 96-00 DX's come with its own special wiring harness and ECU. So if you want to upgrade your intake manifold with out having to change out all that stuff, you will have to use a 92+ EX intake manifold because all 88-91 D-series intake manifolds do not match up with the newer 92+ throttle bodies.
Your throttle body can be used on any 92+ intake manifold, its current verticle possition means nothing, it mounts the same as any other honda throttle body.
follow me so far? good.
So unless you want to get a ODB1 converter harness, run a 92-95 LS or DX ecu, re-pin your harness, wire in a new IACV plug and run a Z6 or Y8 intake manifold with a 92-00 EX throttle body you can do the following...
Buy a 96-00 EX Automatic intake manifold and bolt your TB to that. The EX automatic manifold is the same as the 5-speeds but the Automatic EX uses the same combo t/b you have, so there is no hole in it for a seperate IACV. I found one at a junk yard for $100 bare with throttle cable mount.
So anyway, bolt up the intake manifold, bolt on your TB and change your throttle control plate to a horizontal version. You can just take the one off your D16A6's T/B.
The plugs will be a stretch to read the new sensor positions, but they will reach with some tugging and removal of some of the outter plastic harness sleaves.
You will also have to buy around 5 feet of vacume hose to re-line your manifold.
It took me like 6 hours to figure this all out and install it, it sounds hard, but its worth it. The motor doesn't want to DIE at 6000 rpms anymore, it pulls nicely all the way to redline.
here is a pic of the finished product...good luck!
oh sorry for my bad spelling
