Default may sound stupid but just curious!

I see everyone calling their motor names such as h22 or b18....what would be in a 99 Honda accord ex 4cyl 5 speed. I checked the vin and it said 2.3L I4 EFI is that the only name for it?

Hi, this link will tell you where to look on a 90-91-92-93...don't know about a 99.

You have a F23A1 2.3l SOHC VTEC, early 90's Accords to Early 2000's Accords all used the same basic block premise with different head setups. The F series (Minus the F20a,b,c which were DOHC) have SOHC heads, while the H series all have DOHC heads. All reliable motors when cared for properly, the H series have proven to be fairly powerful on N/A and boosted setups. Lately people have been working on and building up the F series motors due to more aftermarket parts being more available and cheaper to obtain with decent numbers.

I happen to own an F22b2 engine.. What modz can be done to reach the amount of hp provided by the H22 jdm swap?? H22 is a perfect fit btw for accordz 94_97..

Who says the op is even swapping the motor? He is asking about the motor in his car.
Just b/c you live in a smog **** state doesnt mean everyone else does.

Thanks for contributing, but seems as if you are way jumping the gun...

Boost it, swap on a h22 head to the current f22 block, or build the f22 (higher compression/bigger cam).

I just don't see an H head on an F block being a wise decision. People have compression issues with them all the time. You're better off swapping because EVERYTHING is original to itself and it works out of the crate. Anyways lets not thread jack.

Agreed on the cam and turbo, although a turbo is a good amount of money they will eventually pay themselves off in the gained power you will get out of installing one. A larger diameter exhaust and a header will also increase some power, but will be louder and won't pass smog (At least I don't think so, don't quote me on this). Don't invest in an intake, they generally have proven to make the engine loose power.

your crazy, that setup has been done numerous times...f22 block, h22 head, f23 crank, type-s pistons and u have an all motor monster! or use low compression forged pistons and have a turbo monster!!! no compression problems at all if built right..

I agree with the g22. Although, i have owned one and was as you described until the block had work done.

The noob asked, so i told. Not worth the argument you usually get with trial users about starting their own damn thread.

That's what I meant. Simply bolting an H22 head on an F22 won't show THAT impressive of a gain. I'm perfectly aware of the numerous people that have done up G22's and had awesome results.

Well Thxz all for advice and ideas on building an accord!! I am new to Honda tech, didn't mean to cause tension between members :/ I'm here to get help, and help others if i can.. I was speaking on behalf of a guy that ownz a power shop, and customizes cars, mainly Hondas, acuras, ect.. I am new in RL to the Honda scene, what i have heard is to get the H22 because it fitz perfectly in the accord.. I've been told to stay away from turbo, it will burn out the engine faster, any engine.. Again i apologize for offending any of you "expertz".. I got my 96 accord stock, i did most the work on it myself.. All except tires and rims.. And cat back.. Latez

It's all up to you bro!! who cares what people think.. Ive been meeting alot of different car enthusiast peoples lately, and it seems they all have different things to say about the " ACCORD " .. But i can tell you this man, I've done some stuff to my car that's given me a significant amount of power and is just plan nice to have on the rode.. If your ready financially to do an engine swap then do it.. Or just build up your F23 bro.. Starting with, intake system, headers, cat back, lowering struts.. And ect. ect. Bro, that's the thing I've noticed with being a car enthusiast " You can put 5k in your ride , and start all over if you want!! " but yea dude, i only mention the H22 in regard to power.. H22 complete engine is what id do.. Not a bunch of s/$! Put together, no offense to any one who liked this build better

Whats a intake "system"? Dont you know a stock airbox is just as good as a intake on a motor that has zero internal work done? Stock motor, they change the sound and maybe, maybe mpg's.

Its a i-4, not a v6...A header will net such small power gain, even with a tune on a stock motor.

I would invest money elsewhere than i/h/e. With the money people spend on bolt ons, he could have a h22 in the car and would perform much better with stock exhaust and intake than a bolt on single jingle.

First time i've ever heard someone say "lowering struts". That was cute.
