Default ZC LSD trans took a dump

Starter went out, replaced it. Drove it a block a bit hard and my trans went out. No grinding, bang or anything really other than a whirring noise in any gear and no motion. Of course, it's a 5SP LSD ZC L1 trans.

Also this happened:

Looks like I got speckles in my trans oil.

Question is, I got a parts car 1991 Acrua Integra B18A1 sitting here with manual 5sp. How likely would the gearset/internals swap if anything will swap? I know it won't bolt up to the ZC DOHC engine but looking for a fix.

Also, what the hell could cause this issue? Did my input shaft walk out?

never heard of the ZC being a LSD tranny unless someone installed it aftermarket, a ZC tranny is IDENTICAL to a SI tranny right down to the gearing, unless you can do some massive machining I don't see anything from the integra help you as ZC is a D16, any D series tranny will bolt up perfect from 89-2000 with them changing from cable to hydro in 92... and a 88 will work if you use a 88 clutch disk.

did you check to make sure the axle didnt break? or just pop out of the tranny? at least from the picture it looks like that leak is coming right from the axle holes in the trans case

it wouldn't leak from a axle hole like, maybe if it was spinning inside the trans it could but you would see the axle hanging if it was broke, if you pull the axle and fluid drains out it was too full of oil already.

Looks like the differential went BOOM, would be nice if was just the axle.

I concur, can pick up a good si tranny around here for $50-$100 or if you want a little better mpg for the lack of acceleration shoot for a Dx/Hf/Std trans. even cheaper

Ive definitely seen more fluid than that pour out of a factory honda trans when on a perfectly level lift after you pull the axles. Ive never managed to break a car on a perfectly level piece of road either. ive also sheared a few axles inside the diff where the axle was still in the hole but the splined portion was no longer connected. In all reality the diff most likely lost the spider gear pin(im still doubting its an LSD) but dont write it off until you have had the chance to really take a look at it.

It was a factory option for quite a few of the EF sedan/hatch/CRX's in Japan. It also came standard in a few limited run models.

that leans me even closer towards a broken axle or an axle popped out of the diff. plus everytime ive broken a diff it has either sounded like someone was beating the frame with a hammer or like there was 50 dollars in quarters rattling around inside the trans

are you sure it is a ZC transmission? ZC transmissions were used with the DOHC ZC engine and require the use of an intermediate shaft and larger Integra type axles - some DOHC ZC transmissions did have factory LSD - if it doesn't have the intermediate shaft and larger axles, it is not a ZC and would not have a factory LSD - ZC transmissions are L3, not L1

Some of the SOHC ZC's in the 1.6 EF sedans (36i) had optional LSD's as well. They still ran an intermediate shaft and the ratios are listed the same as the USDM Si L3 trans.
