Ok here's a short story... I'm in the preocess of changing my b-serie OEM lsd for a Kaaz... There was alwready ball bearing on both side of the KAAZ installed that I bought... Does Kaaz supplied the Kaaz with bearing alwready on it? Cause mine is an open box return... The guy that both it before me had an older casing... Anyways, I need to know if the kaaz comes with ball bearing on both ends of the diff...
I know I'll have to shim the diff to get the right tolerance between the diff and housing on both side...
right now, with the KaaZ in and the shim in (1.35mm) in the clutch side housing (the one that was there) I have a gap of about 2.48mm on the other side (gear side housing) with a feeler gage, witch is huge... Actually, Honda in the manual don't even offer that size, it stop at 1.83mm... The clearance should be within 0.1mm...
Could the bearing alwready on the KAAz are too thin witch would cause the "huge" gap?

That confirm what I thought....
I'll take these bearings out and put the OEM that I bought at the dealer and check back my clearance.... Cause 3.5mm clearance dosen't make sense...

I actually put both my old oem lsd and my new KAaz side to side and have put a level on both at the same time and the KAaz with the "F.A.G" bearing is shorter so...

I finally found out that tje ntn bearing supply by honda is a bit offset at the center compare to the *** bearing That were on the laaz when I purchase... Now bearing are out. I should be fine with the clearance with the oem bearing...
Its not the brand in particular where you are finding the difference. It is the application.
B16/LS all use one type of differential bearing

Early GSR/Type R will use a 2pc Taper bearing

Late model GSR/Type R will use the offset bearing like the one you got from Honda

An easy thing to remember when choosing a differential bearing:
If it is a GSR/Type Diff - Use a GSR/Type R Differential Bearing
If it is a B16/LS Diff - Use a B16/LS Differetial Bearing

I agree and was aware of the 2 types of gsr type r bearing. I wasen t aware about the b16a/ ls bearing difference... it make sense cause the reason why the guy return the kaaz was because he had a first gen b16 tranny and apparently the kaaz wasen t fitting in the case... Hope this info will be usefull for some other people!
