Default Looking at buying an S2000 but...

Hey guys I need help here identifying possible issues with a car I was planning on picking up tomorrow. Can you tell me based on this picture whether the car has been repainted?

Also, does anyone recognize this car and know any info on it?

Doesnt look like it was repainted, but then again what can you really tell from a picture.

I hope youre not spending $19k on a 05 with 80k miles on it either. Off the lot, I would say 18k maybe 19k if it had lower miles.

if i had to guess, i'd say it was s4play from s2ki's. He had to do something with the double din install because I know he had a yellow one. That's a very unique feature and should check that out.

If the hood has not been repainted there should be some smog stickers saying stuff like the size of the engine/cats/egr etc... 99.9% shops never replace that sticker. There should also be sticker on both fenders.

This if from my 4runner.

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated! I'm very leary about buying this car because I noticed some orange peel on the entire rear of the care (trunk, both rear fenders, flares, bumper etc.). I went to check the car out and turned the deal down because of it, but the dealership sent the car to a shop and had it color sanded. He said that all matches the rest of the car, but the flares were untouched. Also, the driver side rocker panel is dented in on the bottom, they were not willing to get that fixed

Unfortunately, this car is almost 2 hours away from me and Im not even sure if I should bother going back.

Is it the color that you like?

S2000 or a dime dozen in the bay area. I always see tons of clean ones for sale. Now try and find a clean 92-95 hatch. hahaha.

146 right now to chose from. Ok a lot of them or duplicates, but I bet there is at least 50 unique ones to look at.

Thanks hwyix, yeah Im really digging the pearl yellow and the fact that it is already lowered, the custom monitor, lip, etc. so I don't have to spend anymore money fixing this up. I was just planning on getting a hard top and call it a day. I may just wait it out but I really want to feel good about my purchase.

oh, I see. All the other stuff is trivial little stuff, but hard to find factory paint is worth waiting for. It cost soooooo much money to change the color of car and even then it is almost never as good as the factory paint.

Good luck with your search and make sure you look for the stickers under the hood and run a carfax.

It likely doesn't bother you, and maybe you're going to save that poor car but the mods are pretty shitty looking, especially the rear fender flares lol

LOL I needed to hear that...because I was really doubting how the flares looked. I'm really trying to convince myself to not get this. Please anymore honest feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Have the dealership email you photos of the stickers I showed you. If there missing I would pass on the car or get it for at LOT less.

For that kind of money, I'd have a couple of history reports run (CarFax is ok, but a good AutoCheck would be optimal)...I'd also have the seller meet you at a Honda dealership and have a solid PPI run on it on their dime. Now chances are they'll tell you to buzz off requiring that, but a picture posted here isn't going to give you squat for legitimate answers as to the condition and history of that car, so worst case, spend the $100 or so bucks and have some peace of mind.

Also, as others have said, they're asking too much.
