cab drone too annoying
hey HT after i got my new to me 94 hatch to run good today i decided to drive it around after i changed the oil and my exhaust is annoying at times i love the sound but after a certain rpm i can stand it, it makes my ears ring. i dont wanna buy another exhaust it has a cat back apexi 3" exhaust which sounds awesome but too annoying after 30 mins of driving. what can i do to enjoy driving my civic instead of hating it cause it makes my ears ring.
You could put "dynamat" in the trunk hatch(don't know if i spelled that right) a lot of audio guys do it. It's basicly extra sound deadning costs/weighs a bit but how much you put is up to you. There have been posts like this before end result was some sort of dynamat installed.
APEXI comes with a resinator. A different muffler won't change much he's running 3'' exhaust. Dynamat is the simplest solution with out messing with the exhaust which i don't think he want's to do.
Dynamat won't do ****. I had a Z6 coupe that used to be boosted and had 3" exhaust. Did lots of fatmat and it was hardly any quieter.
My hatch has atleast 2.5 with a resonator and it is pretty quiet. Factory cat is still on though. Not having a converter on the car will make it much louder than any exhaust will.

Post a pic. Sometimes if the muffler isn't sticking far enough past the underside, you get drone inside/under the car bouncing the sound back into passenger area. Versus it sticking out just enough to where the sound is actually going straight out the back
what brand resonator should i go with? i found one for $89 3" resonator off some site all i did was google it and first site i found. and how much would you say it would cost for labor and parts?
Before you rush off and buy parts maybe you should actually get under the car and VERIFY what you actually have installed. Then call or trot over to a local muffler shop and get a quote from them, not us.
I can tell you all day long what it will cost here but pricing across the country isn't the same.

I am guilty of buying a free low exhaust. Enjoying the music for a few years and then want something quieter but still produce more power than OEM. I never did find the unicorn exhaust.
