What can i do to get some more hp from a sohc dx civic I have an intake and will be getting exhaust soon. I dont want to race I just want a little more hp. If i get an intake and tb what would be the best setup and what else do i need to do if i add these components to my car..

 

Swap in a B18C1 or C5 engine so your sohc dx civic becomes a dohc vtec dx civic. You'll be almost half way $ wise to a C1 swap by the time you get done buying all the bolt-on's under the sun and tuning; with all that you still won't be near the power or torque of a stock C1 or C5.

Just my $0.02 after helping out a friend that bought one a while back. He had it for a month before he took my advice and we dropped a C5 in. Best thing he ever did to that car in my opinion. He loved it. It went from slow to semi-fun.

 

If swapping in a bigger engine or forced induction is out of the question? Nothing.

 

you could always swap a ex trans to make it alittle quicker

 

If i did the swap to the b18c1 what else do i have to change. It is a manual tranny will I be able to keep it. and what about the ecu what one do i get.

 

If you buy a full gsr swap from a company like HMO, it will come with just about everything you need. All the info you'll need in regard to the swap is out there, just do a little googling and you'll find the answers to your questions. It's not a peticularly difficult swap like a b20v into a crx which requireds a decent bit of wiring and some massaging of parts. B18 into an eg body style or ek body style is pretty straight forward.

 

Swap a z6 head on it
