Help: Plastidip prep for sanded car
you dont need to sand the car at all. in fact... half the point is not having to do anything other than clean it before you plastidip it so if you can peel it off later. no matter what you do plastidip is not a permanent solution. one chip and it will start to peel in the wind.
Thanks guys but the problem was that I have already started sanding the car down a bit. I originally was thinking of painting it but I have changed my mind and really considering plastidip instead. The only part that I have done that cannot be replaced is the roof. I have started on the hood but I think I'm going to end up getting a new one anyways.
There are other parts in my car where the paint is starting to chip. Should I consider taking the paint or clear off before I plastidip it?

Nope just a good cleaning. They sell paint prep cleaner that is a mild degreaser at the local part store or paint store. I always wipe down with rubbing alcohol to remove residue left before painting I did this for my buddies lancer and other than rock chips it is still holding after 2 years. Never used sand paper in case he wanted to peel the plast-dip off.
