Default Suspension Noob- Educate me!

I have been looking at a Beaks Lower subframe tiebar for my 00 civic ex. I'm trying to understand the functional purpose of this item for one. And 2, before purchasing, will I need to change anything on my car now to allow this to be installed. I have read that LCAs are purely aesthetics so Im not going to do that. I do plan to lower the car though soon. This may be something I don't need to purchase, I'm trying to understand.

Just a bling factor. I got them because they look sick. As for LCA's, most people recommend OEM if you are just looking to replace them, or go the even cheaper route and just replace the bushings.

Yep, all those tie bars are for one purpose...Bling.

Most aftermarket LCA's are for bling too with the exception of a spherical bearing setup like something from Kiwi, wicked tuning, or kingpin machine. For the street, just replace the stock worn out bushings with new stock bushings.

Question - When preparing to lower you car, or just in general for that matter, is there anything that you should replace? I'm thinking tie rods, ball joints, I heard there are upper and lower or something. I'm basically trying to have everything nice and tight... like new... Especially when Im going to lower the car.

No need to replace parts that are still good. Just give all the suspension components a good check over and replace what needs replacing. If bushings are cracked and torn, replace them. If your wheel bearings are loose, replace them, if the ball joints are loose, replace them. Otherwise, just make sure you tighten bushing bolts with the car on the ground so they aren't stressed and get an alignment after you lower it so you don't get toe wear on the inside of your tires.

Car is 13 years old. Replace anything you think needs replacing. Maybe even parts you think might NOT need it.

It's not a full kit, nor is it worth buying the "Master kit."

If you want a bushing kit that will last more than 2-3 years:

http://www.buyhardrace.com/product/h...gsr-ls_49.html

or

http://picperformance.com/store/scri...?idproduct=233

or

Buy new OEM bushings.

look into getting a rear sway bar. Any sway bay thicker than 20mm then you need a rear subframe braces from ASR.
