89 crx si d16y8 3500 rpm limit HELP
so i know alot of you are gunna say to search on here for my problem.. but i have a few other question i need answered aswell.
the car:
1989 crx SI
d16y8
obd0-obd1 conversion harness
so heres the deal.. i picked up this car for $900 and the swap was already done (almost). i was told to wire in the 4 wire o2 senser and vtec solonoid, then magically my problem would be gone (the rev limit). so i did that and no, i still have the problem. so i have done numerous hours of research and i've realized alot of things could be the problem here.
the first thing i thought it must be is the distributor, because the previous owner did not buy a jumper for that, he just wired it himself. so i found 2 different wire diagrams for obd0-obd1. one said to match all colours beside the large white-yellow/green. the other one said to have it with the crank position and cyp switched.. so which way is it supposed to be??!?!?
the next thing is... am i supposed to have a knock sensor? i dont think i do but i'm not sure if i should.. and should i put a oil pressure sensor on the vtec solenoid?
my next question is can someone give me a list of things i should go through and check? like sensors, wiring, where some mistakes go wrong with these swaps?
is there an easy way to know if your sensor doesnt work? like a volt test? what should they read?
my CEL does not work and i am unsure about hooking it up as all the wiring everywhere is very nasty and sloppily done.. could anyone tell me where to run the wire from the ecu to get that hooked up so i can check for codes?
sorry for the long post. thx in advance to anyone that can shed some light

the 3500RPM limit is what is called Limp Home Mode.
you obviously need to address the wiring, as the issue lays there.
good luck.

How is it OBD0 to OBD1 when the Y8 is OBD2a?
Fix your CEL so you can pull proper codes. It's a diagnostic tool you shouldn't be without.

you can convert the d16 to run on obd1.. you need the obd1 dizzy, which i have.. i'm not sure on the wiring though because i have found two different diagrams for wiring obd0 to obd1 distributor (obd0 engine harness to obd1 distributor plug) now my question is what are the thing that cause the engine to be in limp mode? and do i need a knock sensor? does the ecu look for one?
