Default painting a dc sports ceramic header ?

This probably isnt the write forum.. but i wasnt sure which to post in..

I have a 4-2-1 Ceramic DC header.. its a lil dirty.. i was wondering if, after cleaning it up..

If i could paint it with this high heat black spray paint i have.. Its the BBQ paint from homedepot, says up to 1400 degrees...

How hot do headers get? would the paint last long on there?

I wouldn't even bother with that. Just my opinion though.

FYI most of the high-temp that I've seen doesn't really withstand 1400 degrees unless it's baked after applied.... The ones I've seen are only good to 600-800 unless ya bake em....

I'd would just thermo-wrap it. It looks different and have a slight engine cooler (it absorbs alot the heat).

Beside, even if you used the paint, in time, its gonna chip.

Try to find a store that specializes in Fireplaces and try to find these brands of high temp paint, StoveBright or Thermolux. The paint actually bakes onto the surface when heat is applied to it. It's made to withstand temps in excess of 2000 degrees. I use this stuff on everything (Brakes, Header, Exhaust) and it has yet to flake or peel...

I painted my header using this paint and my headers still look good, and that was like 2 months ago.

i painted my headers when i got them used from some one...the guy gave me a can of this "flat" ceramic grey color high temp engine paint...so i painted it, but i didnt install the headers right away on the car to get it heated up....so after about a year or so...it started chipping...but it looked like new when it was holding up.....
