So I'm in the process of gathering parts for my b18c5 that I'm doing a mild build on. I'm looking into the rs machine pr3 pistons and wondering do I need to have them balanced before pitting them in my block? I know the crank is factory balanced but is anything else factory balanced?
Anything/ everything can be balanced in much finer detail than the way they are received... its just a matter of how you are going to use the motor and whether or not you will appreciate the effort, not to mention how much you are looking to spend.
Most products come balanced close enough to appease the "average" consumer but every now and then you have a customer that is either pushing **** so hard that .1 gram matters OR you have a guy sitting in a shop, with the available tools, that has nothing better to do... that can do this without paying someone else's fee that will do this just because he can, which is always nice! But not really necessary.
If you are neither... dont sweat it. The pistons will come close enough and so will the rods.

EK24 put it very well at "most products come balanced close enough for the average consumer" however, at any rate, I would still check them or have your machinist check them before the engine goes together just to be positive. You just never know.

This build will be mild. Fun street car with around same rev limit as the factory itr or maybe lil higher depending on where the power band falls off, not really looking to rev to the moon and back. If the RS Machine pr3 pistons are close enough then im fine with that i just wasnt sure if it would throw anything off

Also what compression would be to much for itr cams? From the calculators online pr3 pistons in a b18c5 pits the cr at 11.2:1 with a 3 layer hg. Is that to high for my cams or still with in a good range?
