Good recent ITR article

Regardless, the ITR is obviously vastly superior in handling tests.

From: TRILLINOIS....WAY downtown, jerky.
The 06-11 Si is definitely the best performing Si. However, the EM1 was the last "real" Si. Even the EM1 was a bit bulky....but that was definitely the most monumental, impactful Si. The 88-91 Si is a very close 2nd place.
Also.....this test is comparing an Si to a Type R. WTF did people think was going to happen? Predictable. This surprised people that the ITR was faster? Why? What was amazing to me is how far the Si has come in terms of performance. An Si being that close to a type R model is pretty amazing. I don't care if it's newer. The Si is very much a "meet in the middle" car. Si's were meant to be peppy and sporty...not fast and planted.
Point is that we're not really comparing apples to apples here. The FD2 CTR would wipe the floor with the DC2-R. It would absolutely crush it. Destroy it, infact. Unlike the article suggests, Honda had progressed at the time this piece was written...just not quite as much in the US compact market. Although they've taken quite a few steps backwards now.....

If this ITR came from a Honda training center, then the scuffed area around the tailpipe could have been caused from the tubing that is hooked up to the tailpipe to vent out the exhaust while the car is running.
As stated before, the ITR came stock with high performance summer tires. They might've even been termed extreme performance; can't remember right now. They were Bridgestone Potenza RE010s, which were also used on the NSX. The RE010s were no longer available at the time of this article. Running Star Specs on the ITR isn't like replacing the standard Si's Michelin Pilot HX MXM4s with Star Specs.
You nailed it exactly! And it's the only sign of wear on the entire car.
No rust, just a bad lighting. Here's a more recent picture showing the scratches from the exhaust hookup while used in the Honda training center for ~10yrs.
That may not be a recent article but this one is
