i painted my car in the middle of last summer. im doing a full build starting late summer, early fall im just giving a sneak peak of the build to come. i have done alot of things to this car! i will show you the progress from sorta the beginning to now. i will keep posting picks untill the start of my build which isnt to far from now. tell me what ya think. once i get the original pictures from when i bought it i will post them to show you the major transformation.

 

If that's what it looks like NOW I'd hate to see what it looked like when you got it. That body looks rough.

I laughed when people told me not to rattle can my car, it will look like ***.

Well now I understand where they were coming from. Although my rattle can job turned out beautifully I think, that paint job is just horrid. I guess we all have to start somewhere but goddamn do your homework first.

 

I have seen some "decent" rattle can jobs but they took time and put in effort. Based on OPs previous posts this is going to be a good build thread.

 

So op...how do you go from a type r swapped eg, to this?

 

It's totally possible to paint a car using a roller or a brush. It's just a multi-step process that involves many coats and a lot of sanding over the course of many days. Then it involves rolling on many coats of clear with a lot of sanding and buffing in between. I think the OP just skipped all the middle steps and went straight to "There. It's done. Whaddaya think?" (skip to 2:33)

you masked off the headlights and taillights but couldn't do the molding or mufflers come on man..... should of just painted over your windshield while you were at it

 

How do you mess up a rattle can job... The hood shoulda been black to cover thebdamage

 

did you sand it down with 40 grit and call it good?

 

Doubt any sanding was done. Look's like he opened a can of paint and threw it on the car.

you guys are all right i know it looks like ****! and the body is very rough this car was beat to living hell when i got it it also has 330xxx so pls cut her a lil slack. and before i did a half *** paint job it had 3 layers and looked even more shitty. it was blue,red and gray all at the same time so my goal was to do a fast paint job tht would at least have it just one color. i will show more pics of the transformation to what it looks like now. and this is not what it looks like when i got it.

disclaimer: i suck at rattle can paint job. im not posting this to say my car is the best, all im doing is posting my hard work for other ppl to see cuz i know ppl like seeing builds. this is basically my rags to riches build. just full out restoration. and im going to prove tht i can fix this car too look as good as physically possible. i love my eg. if you dont i don't care, this is for ppl who like egs and want to see me turn this around. i know i didn't do the paint job correctly. i know yall are all right and im going to show you what 1500$ can do to a crappy lookin car like this.
