Default Intermittent loss of acceleration/power

Hello everybody,i've been experiencing bad times with my b18c and still am unable to locate the problem..Well the engine acts very sluggish, the acceleration is very slow...it takes a lot more time to response, when driving after 30 mins from a cold start.. i think its a temperature related issue, but i don't know what exactly is the cause..things i've tried and changed, spark plug, map sensor, IAT sensor....i've also cleaned the throttle body,injectors,iacv..but all this did not solve my prob. Some specs of the engine which might help you,b18c4 engine,b16b cams, itr ecu....Hope you can help me fix the lagging issue..thnks

Thank you for your kind help.So should i necessary replace a whole distributor?Or changing one by one?Could you please tell me specifically what i need to change, please note it runs with an msd external coil.I've also noticed the distributor cap terminal is worn, but not sure if its the cause of all this.As for the cap,its not msd brand, they called it vms racing. And today i was looking at the exhaust when idling, engine is fully warmed,i found sme dripping water coming out but not that much like cold start and my eyes were burning, like smell of gas.It has never been like that before...No,no check engine light after start up.

May be your catalytic converter is plugged.

ive the same problem, i think, my ej2 D15 struggles to go over 4000rpm untill the engine warms up, almost like its running out of petrol, and almost cuts out when u clutch it, but that stops when the engine is warm and left with the struggling thing. but i think this is because of a hole in the exhaust just before the back box, otherwise its a serious coincidence and they just seemed to happen at the same time! i'm probably way off but i think it has something to do with a restriction in air flow?? not too clued up on all this tho... lol

Replace the cap, rotor, and plugs along with the fuel filter, pcv valve, and air filter. If you do the plug wires and oil and oil filter change that is a full tune up and should help considering you mentioned that the cap had some corrosion on it

Check your timing whenever you do tuneup, too.
If you have a spare set of injectors same size, try swapping the set.
Might have a bad injector

Well today i got a dizzy from a friend unfortunately it didn't help ...The car is still not pulling well, now i'll try a set of spark plugs....I'd like to know if an old fuel pump can cause this kind of slow acceleration/response?am using the stock d15 fuel pump which has run 240,000 km..

Helo..i replaced the fuel pump...there is no improvement at all...yesterday the car started misfiring when i was driving(engine warm) and check engine light flashed during misfire...it happen randomly....so i did a compression test for my b18c4...it gives 195,200,200,200...I think compression is quite good..after that i check the distributor cap..i found that the contact terminals were all worn,do you think this might cause the car to misfire?thanks.

Yes, it could. People already said you should replace the rap and rotor, and check your timing. That's where you should have started.

No, don't waste your time or money with an MSD kit. Get OEM.

Infact my car is already equipped with msd,i'll just replace the worn cap and rotor and see how it goes.I've seen msd sells a kit,you get the coil, rotor, cap and coil wire at a good price.

What is the current condition of your plugs and your wires as well? I'd suggest finding the problem before throwing parts at it.

Also, you say that your contact terminals are worn. What makes you feel that they are worn down?

As JBPNoman said... go with OEM. Ditch MSD

I would spend the money and do Cap/rotor plugs..

Then take it in to someone who "knows what they are doing" with a scan guage. Live diagnostics can pinpoint sensor failure.

Could be your 02 sensor...

Sounds like your problems become more apparent once you hit closed loop operation.

Could be as simple as a bad ground somewhere too..

hi everyone..my problem is getting worse and worse...i really don't know what to look next after having replaced all these: oem distributor, injectors, spark plugs and wires, iat sensor, ect sensor, map sensor and ecu as well...the car misfires at high rpm and even when i press the gas pedal hard to take off,it misfires intermittently. The check engine light flashes only when it misfires and the power is very weak...and when i bridge the jumper wires to read the code,it doesn't flash...please do you have any more suggestions...Here in mauritius we do not have good mechanic nor professional electrician to find out the problem...its very annoying..

Just saw that you had MSD set up,

MSD coils go to sht out of no wear. The canister might have a hair line crack just below where you plug it in. ( Where the top meets the bottom)

From everything you have said, its more than likely the External Coil.

If that doesn't fix it, which it should. The next thing i would mess with is the t.p.s. Try unplugging it and see how it idles, runs, if there is no change. Replace
