Default 98 civic motor swap questions

Hey guys,

I just recently picked up a 98 civic dx, 5speed with a d16y7 in it and a huge rod knock!
This morning I went and picked up another d16y7 with a y8 mini me swap. I also have the computer for the y8 head.

My problem is, the iacv is missing on the y8 head. I dont really have access to another iacv for the head right now either.

Can I use the y7 intake manifold and throttle body on the y8 head? If so, should i be using my stock ecu or the y8 ecu? I'm a little confused about what i should do or how that works?

I have two complete engines, what can i do to be able to hook up vtec and use what i have and have everything working?

You'll have to use your y7 ecu with they y7 IACV.

You can wire it on but it won't activate without using the y8 ecu

Otherwise, if i get the iacv for the y8 head, i should be able to run that if i switch my y7 ecu with the y8 ecu?

Yeah just get an IACV. You'll have to rewire the IACV at the sensor and at the ecu, wire in vtec, wire in knock sensor.

So, I need the y8 ecu to run vtec? And to run the y8 ecu I need the y8 intake and iacv? Sounds like I am better off finding an iacv for my y8 intake and going that route.

Sorry about all of the questions, I'm just trying to get this right so everything is working properly!

Yeah you'll have to run the P2P ecu for vtec and also the y8 IACV with the P2P.

nother note is that if you're gonna run the y8 exhaust manifold you'll have to get a cat welded in and extend your secondary 02.

I'll be running a header on the engine. Is that going to affect where my o2 sensors will go? i dont plan on using a cat.

You're gonna throw an engine light without a cat.
