'89 Honda Accord
Didnt see a spot for an 89, so I figured id ask here. I have an 89 accord with the A20a1 carb'd motor. Are there any guides to setting ignition timing, as well as adjusting my carb? Its starting to diesel as I shut off, and some have told me ti get it timed as well as my carb adjusted.
There is usually a sticker on the hood... For timing specs...dieseling is higher than specs idle speed.... Timing is one, but there are other issues, idle hoost sensor for AC,.... What is your idle set... Above or below 900 rpm
You need a timing light and check the mark on the crankshaft pulley or the flywheel... cars are different not too sure where it is on the accord. A manual is usually recommended because of the few marks on the pulley, one for TDC and one for the timing specs for the year and model of the vehicle.
If you have a tachometer, how fast is your idle speed? you can try to lower the speed and see what happens...
How many miles... you could have some carbon built up...
