Power Steering Problem
I've been having this problem with the car since the first time I bought it used. It is a 2000 Honda Accord EX 4 cylinder.
The steering wheel is very tight and binding. After I make a turn it doesn't smoothly turn all the way back to center itself. When I am driving in a straight line and if the road curves just a tiny bit, and when I move the wheel to adjust to the path, it feels like it's binding. When I am parking my car, it takes a bit of an effort to turn the wheel. But what I've noticed is after it rains and I drive the car, the steering feels normal. It feels like a brand new car in terms of the steering. It is butter smooth, there is not a binding feeling when I drive this car at all after it rains. I am not sure why that is?
What I have done to this car so far to try to fix this problem is I have changed the Power Steering fluid (it is clear now). The ball joint was changed on the car and it seemed to fix the problem, but after a few months, the steering felt the same. Another mechanic said that the ball joint was of very poor quality but did not know if that part was the part that was causing me this problem.
Can anyone help me in diagnosing which part that might be causing the problem? And why my power steering feels butter smooth after it rains?
