My rear windshield shattered this afternoon while sitting in my garage (can't tell if someone hit it or not as there has been some vandalism in town recently). It appears a new one for an 02 EX Sedan is almost $500 (Majestic) just for the glass, which I can't really afford. Will an aftermarket one come with the antenna and defroster? May need to hit up the junkyards but foreign cars aren't too popular in this area. Will any 01-05 work?

I didn't happen to see any writeups on replacement here. Any tips? Can I reuse the gaskets and other parts?

 

i feel that perhaps you should get an aftermarket windshield. hopefully your insurance will pay? $500 is a lot. you might even be lucky and go check out a junk yard. i would also look into calling a few windshield replacement companies. they usually provide aftermarket glass as well as OEM glass, and they usually get good pricings on OEM glass.

 

$500 should be the max you pay for the mobile glass repair guy to come out and replace it.

Turns out it will be only $200. A well-regarded auto body place I trust recommended the local auto glass shop that does all their work. They were cheaper than the other auto glass place I called, too.

Even better is my insurance will cover it all as it turns out. Didn't realize I had 0 deductible for that.

 

I remember when I replaced it for my '92 Accord, with a friend of mine cost like $130.
