2000 Odyssey transmission Please help!
I just purchased a 2000 odyssey today. I own several honda's but this is my first odyssey. Here is my problem. I found this van for sale and in the add it said transmission slips. I figured I would buy it and just rebuild the tranny. When I got there the lady told me that it dont slip, it pops out of gear after 4-5 miles but if you turn the key off and back on, it will goin gear and be fine for another 4-5 miles. She said 2 years ago the tranny went out and she had it rebuilt and the torque converter replaced with a new one. I pulled the tranny dip stick and the fluid looks brand new and smells delicious. I paid her and drove it about 8 miles to my house with no issues. Sooo tranny was rebuilt in the past 25k miles, fluid is perfect, it pops out of gear but with flick of key will go back in. Check engine light was on and I got 2 codes p0730 and p0740. Whats the problem?
Please dont jump to just "bad tranny". Its has to be something else if a flip of the key resets it.

Take it to a good mechanic and have him scan the codes to narrow it down. Or just Google the codes you pulled. Sounds like something is not engaging properly inside the trans, or maybe just check the shifter cable, maybe its not installed properly.
Read this and cross your fingers.... I have the solenoid components being shipped as we speak. #FingersCrossed
