88 crx engine swap
So my 88 crx si engine is shot! its a d16 engine and im wanting a B series engine. can a newer engine fit in my car? will all of my engine accessories fit on a B engine? and will I nee new engine mounts? please help!
YES a b series will fit in your car.
NO your hardware wont work, alternator is the only one you probably have, or maybe A/C as well.
unless you go with a old obd0 integra motor (b18a1) or i think one of the b17's is also obd0 you will need to swap your car to obd1.
first thing you need to do is determine what motor your plan to swap in.
easiest way to do a swap is to buy a running b series car that's been wrecked.
having an Si any of the B series axles should fit your car, will also need a b series shift linkage (can be bought online or factory ones can be customized to work)
if going with a newer matching hydraulic tranny you will also need a cable to hydraulic conversion kit (buy online and bolts on easy)
from there you just have to go motor specific (i.e. vtec wiring, obd specific sensor wiring ect.)
you also need either a matching ecu for what motor you use or a chipped ecu that you can put what ever map on you like as well as features such as 2-step and changing tuning setups (requires yourself or someone you knowing having a chip burner and computer, or tuning shop)

whats wrong with your current engine? a swap can get exspencive fast and a cheap fix might get you back on the road till you can get the swap ready
