Default Fuel Pump Adjustment?

1990 Civic Standard 1.5, replaced the fuel pump and it works as long as I keep over 1/4 tank of fuel. Seems like I need to lower the pump but I know that's not possible. What's going on?

You have the wrong sock on your pump.

Covered many times and I don't feel like searching for you right now.

Thank you! I really appreciate this, I have searched on other sites and you are the only one to even answer. I never thought about the "sock" but this is exactly what is wrong and apparently what many others are experiencing.

I will be ordering one however, I'm thinking back to when the car was still new, about 91 I think, we parked the car on an incline and it wouldn't start until we let it roll to a more level area. Was this a problem even with the original sock? Is this sock different from the original?

No, gravity was your problem then. You probably had little fuel left in the tank and it all got pulled away from the fuel sock while on the incline.
