Gear cone scuffing to fix score marks

Default Gear cone scuffing to fix score marks

I'm rebuilding my transmission and I noticed that my new synchros are scoring the surface of my gear cones. The rebuild thread by Honda Bull (here) mentions that some people will scuff the surface of the gear cones. I'm just wondering if (a) I need to be worried about the score marks on my gear cones and (b) if I should scuff them, as recommended, to remove the scoring?

I scuff the cones with fine scotchbrite and it works really well. What kind of synchros are they?
