So I have a 2002 Accord F23A1 with 90K miles. I've never done a cylinder compression check before so I decided to try it. My process was:

- Bring engine to operating temperature
- Pull the ignition coil and fuel pump fuses as well as disconnect the connector on the distributor
- Pull all four spark plugs
- Connect test gauge to cylinder 1 and turn engine over 8 times while holding down the gas peddle.
- Repeat for the other 3 cylinders

My reading for all four cylinders was 225-230 psi compared to 178psi for the standard specification. This seems really high to me and from the research I've done it sounds like carbon build up. Does carbon seem unusual for an engine with only 90k miles?

I've read that as long as the four cylinders are close than that's all that matters. The spark plug gaps were all within spec but the electrodes seemed a little white which I think can indicate high temperatures which sounds like can lead to carbon build up.

Am I over thinking this or should I do a spark plug, cap, rotor replacement followed by a seafoam treatment?
