Thats what i dont understand, what is costing so much. This swap should cost just as mush as dropping the h22 into a civic. I figured i could get it done under 5k. The parts from place racing should just make this a drop in. I am just wondering if there is something that always goes wrong when somebody does the swap. Here is an email i found from place racing.
Place Racing Inc., (PRI) is the manufacturer of the true Polyurethane Bolt in Mount kit for the 88-91 Prelude to drop in the following powerplants:
F22A 2.2l SOHC Non VTEC and VTEC 90+ Accord
F22B 2.2l DOHC Non VTEC Japanese Accord/Prelude
H22A 2.2l DOHC VTEC 92+ Prelude VTEC
H23A 2.3l DOHC Non VTEC 92+ Prelude
The kit consists of 4 pieces, the left and right polyurethane mounts, a right chassis bracket, and a rear adapter plate. The kit is also supplied with all the required mounting hardware, and complete installation instructions. All parts are powder coated Yellow.
Like all of our kits, we strive to maintain as many OEM Honda parts as possible, which makes servicing a Hybrid Vehicle that much easier. To complete the engine installation, you will also need the OEM Honda rear mount bracket and rear rubber mount from the Prelude VTEC. We also manufacture an optional rear Polyurethane Mount for this application.
In addition, you will also need to change the axles. We do offer these pre fabricated for this application, as well as a bracket kit containing a throttle cable bracket, and several relocation brackets. We are also developing a special application 2 piece cold air intake, with K&N Filter for this transplant. The intake tube is 3" mandrel bent steel, powder coated in a matching Yellow. Also available are special Interface Engine Harnesses that accommodates all the pertinent functions of the engine while matching the Prelude chassis plugs.
The engine sits in the proper position relative to the chassis. It does not hit the hood, nor does it hit the firewall. The placement of the engine dictates that the axles have to be placed at an angle slightly more obtuse than the OEM configuration, however the axle geometry is within tolerable specifications, and we have not seen any unusual failure rate. Although we constantly hear otherwise from un-informed parties, the additional engine weight does not seem to appreciably affect chassis handling.
At this time it appears that the Power Steering can be fully functional. 4 Wheel Steering is not affected. A/C can probably be adapted, however we have not yet developed any parts for this yet, and have not attempted an A/C conversion yet
