Default Brake Light constantly on

Hey all, would have posted this before but PC when out, just got a new 4-door eg(Ferio clone) and money tight and ended up finding out my gpu was just BARLEY unplugged lol

So anyways, i guess i'll give a little back story about the car that could possibly be a reason to this brake light problem. So about a year ago i picked up this 93 eg sedan and was planning on doing a ferio build but my dad ended up TRASHING IT and damn near blowing it up while commuting in it everyday. Being in school still and side jobs i was barley able to keep all the maintnece up and make sure that it was clean. SO now finally a year later my dad got a Subaru Outback given to him so now this car with be mostly garage kept and worked on.

Since day one the "E-Brake/Parking brake" as been REALLY WEAK, but with it never being home and me barley driving it i never had time to fix it. Now with the parking brake ON or DOWN/OFF the light remains to stay on. i try wiggling it and messing with it but i am not able to get it to turn off. I changed the master cylinder around 4 months ago and bleed the system/lines of all air ect and the normal brakes are strong. Any reasoning to why the light would stay on?

Thanks for all help and advice in advance.

The parking brake light? Does it go off if you unplug the wire from the parking brake switch itself? If so, I'd say the switch is mechanically stuck, or shorted. Is this what you are talking about, or I am I not understanding your question?

Alright you know the brake light in your cluster? Look's like an SRS light, where is the switch located and i will check.

Has nothing to do with my brake pedal. I am talking about the light in my cluster.

Fluid in the brake MC topped up? Could be the sensor in there.

Also: Has the cluster light always been staying on since day 1 or is this a new/recent issue.

The "weak" parking brake could be a different issue. How long since the rear brake pads were last replaced?

The parking brake actuates it right at the base of the brake, you have to take the console pieces off and you will see it. On my EG Sedan, the light says "BRAKE" when you apply the parking brake, it is red, is this what you have?

MHM, if i have to take off the dash to get to this sensor, just to fix this problem i'm not going to worry about it. I really wanna build this car but now really taking it into consideration i'm probably going to just make it presentable and paint it and sell it. I got offered 2600$ as is no more than a month ago.

Console, not dash, it is easy, just reveal the base of the parking brake lever.

Sensor is in the brake MC. It floats inside it. Two wires go into the MC, one is GRN/RED, the other is BLK.

The other switch that dazebreak is talking about is under the centre armrest ... you should check that too. Wire is GRN/RED.

Unplug it to see whether the cluster light turns off.

Is the brake fluid low in the reservoir?
