Default 96 civic lx - Problem with dimming of headlights, brief chug in engine

Let me just say I have been viewing your forums for a long time and this is my first time posting. I know it's been brought up but I still don't have an answer. Dimming of my headlights and a brief chug in my engine. 96 Honda civic lx. I changed the battery, alternator twice and the fuse box containing the ELD and yet the lights still dim feels like I'm sucking away my battery life or something. Took it to the mechanic and yet we have no answers to this. This is my only car I'm hoping someone has an answer thank you for any advice and glad to be here!

Check for rusted ground (negative battery cable) point, engine to chassis, battery to chassis...

Thanks for your reply but my buddy who is a mechanic checked cables harnesses and even the battery and said everything looks fine, took it to Firestone and they said either bad alt or eld both changed same issue

One last thing seems people are experiencing this same problem yet I see no answer so are we all just driving around with dim lights? If so I guess I'm in the group if I invest anymore money in this I might as well have bought a different car

Connect voltmeter and check voltage with engine turned on, over 13,8V is ok , under indicate alternator(regulator, diode) problems.

IV changed it twice now but it's one of the cheaper alts at advanced auto think I should go up another level of quality? It hasn't even been 8 months when the 1st went bad

I think my friend said it was reading 14.20 or something he's the car guy but even he seems stumped and I'd hate to keep bugging him

14.2V is ok, it can go to 14.4V what is maximum charging voltage but just need to little overtime watch at battery acid level, because overcharging will produce water evaporates.

Don't have more ides, battery is ok, charging is ok, harness is ok .. maybe headlight switch but... if have bad contact it will burned ... don't know what else can be.

how many negative ground cable ? if only one
try to add one more ground cable from the engine to the bay body and it should be tit well.

and 14.2 reading i think its an over regular reading that's mean the alternator is sending more voltage to the battery.

When you turn the key from off to ON(II), does the charging system light in the cluster turn on and stay on? Or does it never turn on?

Check whether 7.5A dash fuse 15 is blown. Do this by voltage testing with the key in ON(II). Click the Test Fuses link in my signature.

So update went back to advance auto and all of a sudden bad o2 sensor! Rough idle and light dimming solved! Why all of a sudden seems like I wasted a lot of money but at the same time maybe it was a combination of things. Thanks to all your advice and making my first time on here extremely awesome!
