a6/y8 mini me build. a6 intake vs y8 intake?
im rebuilding my 90 crx si and doing a mini me swap. running chipped p28 with a6 bottom end and y8 head, intake and distributor. which intake would be ideal to use in this build? thanks
Are you talking about the intake manifold? If so. I'd probably run the z6(don't know if its the same size as the a6) because the runners are the same length. On the y8, runners are longer in cylinders 1 and 4...
I don't know from actual dyno tests if the z6 manifold is better than the y8, however the z6 is rated at 125hp, and the y8, with poorer head design (for economy and emission more than power) and obd2 regulation, it still managed to be rated at 127hp difference being intake manifold and exhaust manifold. Since you have the y8 manifold, use it, but I think you would also be happy with a z6 manifold.
I got a y8 setup for cheap. And the y8 on an a6 with .010" off the head puts me around 11:1. I herd of the different length runners and you can see it. Thats why i was asking a6 intake manifold vs y8. I have herd the the y8 intake actualy flows quite well and i believe the large plunum helps with torque. I could look for a z6 intake but would it really be worth purchasing?
