Answer the following questions and people can help you out a lot more:
1. What's your budget?
2. What car?
Personally, I would give up 50lbs in weight to have great sound....I drive my car a lot, so great sound is worth the extra weight IMO.
If your looking to get component speakers your actually looking at adding more weight. This is due to the amp(s) and crossover network that you must add to a component speaker setup. Look into a good pair of coaxial speakers.

it's a civic hatch. i already have the amp and for the weight, it is important.i really dont have a budget so pretty much anything goes.
gotta agree with the other guys, there is no "best" speaker
I have MB Quart Q's components and I've heard better setups than mine
best I ever heard was Earl Zausmer's BMW 5-series, that had B&W home speakers installed, only downside to that was he had to replace the speakers annually due to weather changes
go with what was posted earlier (what you can afford)

FYI he had the B&W nautilus 801's in his car. They are part of the Nautilus 800 series. Their top of the line speaker is known as the Nautilus in the prestige line. the best speaker really depends on your preference in music. it depends how you like the music to sound.
How many watts is the amp you have now?? That pretty important, because you want to choose a speaker with about the same rms as the watts you are planning on pushing to it. Pushing 100w to a speakers who's rms is around 100 will usually sound better than pushing 100w to a speakers who rms is like 200 or higher. Just a thought.

The new Polk EX 6.5" sound well with a good amplifier. I have a Pioneer amplifier pushing ~60 watts RMS to the Polk's with an RMS of 60-80 (I forget how much exactly).
EDIT: Forgot to note that they sound good for the price. Mine were $100 shipped.

mb quart and boston acoustics are my personal fav, but they both require an amp to really shine, so if you are trying to cut down weight u might want to just get something that sounds good on headunit wattage like a pioneer or kenwood.
