Default Installing Rear Strut Bar

Will it benefit to jack it up the rear first?

there is no need to jack the car up. you can just unbolt the nuts and install the rear strut bars. the rear strut bar will give your car less flex on your chassis and will make your ride a littler more stiff. a must have if you plan to carve rails in turns. what strut bar are u installing?

if you're having problems getting the bar to fit over the bolts, unloading the suspension by jacking up the car will generally help. you should be able to make it work without jacking it up, though.

I installed it, but it was a pain in the *** getting the bolts off that hold the shocks in.

What is a good way to test for chassis stiffness?

Yeah I was running around looking for one in my garage, but some elbow grease and muscles did the job.

Are you referring to a rear upper or lower strut bar?

I heard you can see if you have chassis flex by jacking up the car, tying a string tightly between a shock tower bolt on each side, and then lowering the car. If the string loosens up any, that will show how much the chassis flexes when the car is on the ground. Of course it will flex more through turns.

And it's a shock tower brace.

What kind of strut bar did you get? I bought a shitty one off EBay, but I have not been able to install it. I supposedly got the correct type for my GSR, but it won't fit without me cutting through the black plastic surrounding the struts...

Any suggestions? Did I buy the wrong bar? Anybody else run into this problem?

Thanks.

See post above.

Yes you might have to cut your plastic peices for it to fit.

Try and test fit, so that it will work when bolted up to see if it isn't too short/too long. That way you know it will fit, with just cutting the plastic.

Some bars requires you to cut away part of the quarter panel.
Example: Benen, Mugen..etc.

different rear strut bars require different cutting on the plastics. as for my DC sports rear strut bars i do not need any cutting just remove the black panel cover.
