Default my own progress 90 civic si

i just recently bought a ef si this week for $980 and i think i got a steal out of it. the body is in ok condition with the main problem is the driver side quarter panel is pretty bad, but i work at a body shop so it should be alright. it came with a 94 LS swap and tranny, also came with a extra B16 tranny. it sits on LS mesh wheels and has a very clean interior, SiR front seats and SI rear seats. Also came with Hasport Mounts. Has Integra center console and is lowered on lowering springs. SUNROOF WORKS.

I bought the car with no ECU and no jumper harness and the car won't be able to start until I figure the problem. Did a leak down test today to test the compression and it was 135, 125, 125 125 (1-4), but the car has no battery and was operating from a battery charger running at 40 amps. I think the pressure should go up once a real test is diagnosed with a proper battery being used for the test.

I'm planning to BAR and REF the car and to paint the whole car inside and out, engine bay and all door jambs, that is.... after the car is put on the road, smogged, and the body work done.

This is the 2nd EF I've had and this is my project. Will post pictures of progress as work gets done.

I have no idea how to post pictures so if anyone could help me out, I can post pictures

the next few pictures are pictures of the car at the shop, the car didnt come with a key so we towed it home with a locked steering wheel, that is why you see the car on dollys. just did a leak down test and checked the electronics on the car.

Will post more pics as parts come in and work is done on the car. Planning to get the car to start and running next and to REF the car for smog

Dam that pretty clean for only 980, parts alone could've sold for more, good find!

ok well we got the car to crank... but still has things to do to get it to start. just found out that the distributor on the car is a obd2 distributor (the motor is obd1 from a 94), i still havent found a obd1 ls ecu. i have a obd0 pr4 and have the distributor for it somewhere around the house.

the car didnt have spark and the distributor is wired like an idiot worked on it with everything spliced taped with black tape. put in the pr4 and finally got spark ( did a spark test on the picture below). i will probably have the car up and running within a week, not much time to work on it.

and for all the comments about the QP, i have no idea how that got there..... it looks like a nightmare. but i work at a body shop and will work on pulling it out and slapping bondo on the whole thing. it will be a hassle since it hit the top body line and bottom fender body line... will have to make a new one. but progress is coming!!!

so finally today is the day... that i got my car started! after hours of scratching my head and wondering what is wrong, having tested 7 ecu's and 3 distributors, finally found one with spark, it was a obd0 ls pr4, dont remember which, with a obd0 distributor from a 91 ls.

first we tested for fuel, no fuel came out and so we tested it with a power source hitting the wire that controls the fuel under the rear seats... and WAHLA we have gas. after doing so, it could only lead to one thing... the main relay. and so we took out the main relay, and what do you know, just yesterday a customer brought in his car, a 91 integra so why not borrow his!? and so my baby had finally come to life

i still wont be able to take it out on the road for about another week, the car has a bad shift linkage which wasnt put on right, will need to check timing and throttle body injection. after all this, will just need to buy stock parts and everything needed to bar/ref

here are some pics of the DA which i "borrowed" the main relay and the lift in the back where my car will go next to fix the shift linkage. also a pic of a stack of ecu's just sitting in the car rusting away

Even if it's used as a parts car you still got one hell of a deal on it. Have you thought about searching for a clean shell to swap everything over into?

Great buy and I'll be watching this thread.

ok so i wanted to do an update on my car, its been about a week now. after being able to start the car, i had fixed the timing (it was off by a tooth) by setting it to TDC and sliding out the timing belt and adjust as needed. and after throwing the car on the lift, the shift linkage was bad and found out that everything from the header all the way back to the exhaust was welded together as one piece, no cat or anything. and so i had to cut the piping down the middle in order to get to the shift linkage. after replacing the shift linkage, news broke out that the transmission was bad.

i found a shift linkage at pick n pull for 50 bucks from a DA, cut it and welded on 2 nuts and used a bar of screw thread as adjusters (will have pics up to make it more clear) and adjusted as needed then welded it in place. i found a b18 tranny from a DA from a member from honda group for 180, purchased it yesterday and just stabbed the tranny in. the car drives and shifts great

i have a integra center console for it and jb welded the center console to the front face piece that holds the deck, so it would sit flush as one piece rather than trying to screw it together.

now that the car is running, ill need to fix all of the little nick nack stuff, no fan, intake, headers, exhaust etc. but the soon the car will be ready for some body work! will keep you guys posted

here is a picture of the shift linkage i pulled from pick n pull before we cut it

here is after we cut the shift linkage and what i used to put it back together with the adjuster

this is what it looks like after we adjusted it to fit

one piece header exhaust

no tranny

everythings gutted, i didnt want to take a picture after putting the interior back after cleaning it because the center console was sittting on the side waiting for the jb weld to dry, ill post pics next time
