so im looking at buying a buddies k20 ek and the Im not sure the full story yet, but he broke the oil pan on a speed bump going to fast and it was enough speed to rip off the skid plate. I know worst case scenario ill have to rebuild the motor, but before i do the rebuild is there anything that i can do to see if i can get away with not rebuilding it?

update low compresson and engine clatter so sounds like a engine rebuild or the top end isnt getting oil.

 

could of messed with oil pump baffle and pick up and etc.

If he drove it a long ways after hitting it and busting it (and knowing he busted it open) that was dumb.

 

Start taring apart from the bottom end where it was hit and see what was damaged. Worst case if he just hit a speed bump, the oil pump may been damaged, oil pan probably has metal chucks in it. Figure out how long he drove it after.
