what size fuel pump should i get?
i am going to buy a walbro fuel pump. i have a 91 si with a Y8 head, and a Y8 intake manifold on it. this winter i am going to put do a cam and some head work and a larger T.B. i want to get a pump now because they are're on sale right now. i also may do a 75 shot a nos, but that would be for a while. so i am thinking the 190lph would be good for me. i think the 255 would be too much.
I would highly suggest upgrading to an FPR which does not use the stock FPR as a base since keeping fuel pressures down at idle usually requires drilling a hole in the stock FPR.
If I were you I'd get the biggest monster of a fuel pump I could get since dropping the tank and putting a new one in is not something you want to do more than once. I got a Walbro 255lph High Output. Haven't put it in yet though but I should never need anything more. Just make sure you buy an FPR that can handle it. Most of the cheap FPR's use the stock FPR as a base, don't get one of those, get one which is a replacement.

What kind of pressure regulator do you recommend? I would THINK you could get a fuel pump as big as you'd like and regulate the fuel with the FPR.
Sound right?

yeah i forgot to mention that i will be getting a new FPR this winter. i have the B&M right now. i am thinking about getting an AEM. i hear they are alright. i found a formula in the honda builders book to calculate what size fuel pump you need. it says to figure out your horse power and multiply it by between .08 and .095. this will give you gallons per hour. i estimated high at 200 hp and got 19GPH (using .095) i converted it and got 71.92LPH. so i would guess that the 190LPH pump would be more than enough.
The 190 will have plenty of pumping power.
Make sure you get an adjustable FPR - these things tend to increase the pressure with the stock FPR too much.... Good pumps tho.
