alright, i know this should be in appearance/cosmetics, but noone ******* answers in there. anyway, im gonna paint my valve cover and was wondering if anything else apart of the engine is safe to spray. pretty much talking bout wires and such. just trying to make my car look semi bareable to look at under the hood.. thanx

 

Don't paint your alternator bracket...that's how it grounds itself

 

yea, i pretty much figured that one. maybe i will just paint the valve cover and clean my wires and engine bay and all that good sutff.. any advice on what i should use to clean??

 

A lot of people use Simple Green, works great and is environmentally friendly

I removed the heat shield that sits over the stock headers, cleaned it up nice and painted it with an aluminum spray paint. It looks a lot better than it did rusted out, and its incredibly easy.. 3 bolts.

 

are you saying you removed the heat shield and painted it? or removed the heat shield and painted your stock headers??

i see alot of engines around here that just get rid of the heat shield. i have aftermarket headers but for some odd reason i put the heat shield back on ( i guess for safety reasons????), anyway.. should i just remove the damn thing? its not the greatest looking piece of metal in the world..

EDIT: Ahhhh, aftermarket header, then I wouldn't worry about the heat shield, i'd get rid of it.... that's my plan eventually.

Leave it on, heat sheilds keep the heat in the exhuast, and out of the engine bay... Don't be a stunna..

Stainless headers put out 3x the heat that a Ceramic coated one does.
