Default Motorcraft full synthetic manual transmission fluid okay for '89 Civic?

I have an '89 Civic & wanted to use Motorcraft full synthetic manual transmission fluid (XT-M5-QS).

The guy at the Honda dealership said that 5w-30 was fine, but I was going to try something that might make the transmission last forever.

Thanks

$16 for 2 bottles of Honda MTF from the dealer, i would choose that route.

Should work fine - most every oil does.
Some synthetics are too slippery and don't allow the syncros to work properly.
You would have to try it out.

Using Honda MTF would be the best bet however it carries a price tag.
