It finally happened...
Well, I am sorry to say that it has finally happened... All that time racing with my car with a stock diff and axles on street tires, then on small slicks, then on my BIG slicks and it finally happened... My diff blew. Raced all night Friday at E.C. 1/8 and no problem, it just kept popping out of first when I'd launch but I'd just throw it into 2nd and all would be good. Well then come saturday morning I ran once at VMP 1/4 and it popped out of second again, same problem. I popped it into 2nd and kept on going... Well I held it in first this next time. and I launched a little too low and so when I nailed it I caught a lot of wheel hop and when I went to shift into second, well the rest is history got out and made sure I wasn't leaking anything so they towed me back to the start line and then some slack gets in the line and the tow truck just keeps on pulling then POP!! the line caught tension again and then I start hearing a clunk clunk, crunch crunch the rest of the way there.
My diff is definatelly a piece of scrap metal... Well now it's time for the Quaife... Well, one more question, why was it that I kept poping out of first??? and as soon as I held it in first (well that and a lot of wheel hop) I blew the diff... Anybody know why I wouldn't think it's the syncro because it's fine, not a single scratch everything is great in that gear. I don't know, but does anybody have any suggestions as to why it was popping out of first...
Thanks,
Sean C.

i was gonna ask if ur spider gears were fully intact but then i realized its blown... i took a part a tranny which had the same problem of popping out of gear and the only problem i could find was that some of the spider gears were chipped a bit... the rest of the tranny was mint
300hp and 24.5x9x13. with Bogart 4lb. drag rims. i know I know too little power and to much slick but Well they were an awesome deal and it was time I ugot a Quaife anyway, so... oh well. LEt me know though if you have any ideas of why it was popping out of gear maybee just gripping too much? Remember it was only when I was launching on those slicks, my smaller slicks and street tires it never happened. I have no earthly Idea. Thanks for the help.

I blew my diff at the track, it sucked. Quaife gets ordered this week
As for the popping out, my D16 did that too. Took apart the tranny, couldn't find obvious wrong. But I'm not a tranny expert so I couldn't tell you what exactly was going on.

mostl likely , low tranny fluid.. my tranny always popped out of geat in 5th on the hwy.. but after checking and filling the tranny fluid, the problem went away.... check it out b4 u assume anything else..

Well, the tranny fluid seems to be fine. I had the clutch changed about 2 months ago and the shop put the fluid in and when we drained it it was a good level... So it must be that other thing you are talking about... And just to say this, I know little to nothing about the actual gear box of the tranny from the bell housing to the harmonic balancer I know but the gearbow I know very little... So if you could break down what you were talking about the "ball" you were talking about I would greatlly appreciate it. Thanks.
