2008 Civic Lx Bad Idle Rough Idle when warm
Hey not sure if this is the right place to post this, but i just want to know has anyone out there had idle issues on there 2008 civic.
Sometimes my car idles really rough as if its about to cut out then other times its fine. When it drives its fine. I pull up to a light and bad idle.. drive away its ok next light i stop at may or may not be fine..
Ive just put new iridum plugs into it to see if that would sort it out but it hasn't. Id be greatful for any help anyone out there can give me. thanks.

put in an oem air filter and make sure there are no debris in the maf sensor. this problem is common. if both of those are good replace maf sensor

My 07 lx had the same problem, would idle rough when coming to a stop. I found a bad motor mount, made the dealer eat it since it was still under warranty.
What's the mileage and are you running shitty gas through it? These new cars use electronic throttles, so as the throttle gets carbon built up around it, it'll cause a low and/or rough idle. If it's a more intermittent problem like you say, it could be from the injectors gumming up. Clean out your throttle body really good with carb cleaner, and pour a whole pint of Seafoam into a full tank of gas and see what happens. If the throttle is really dirty and the battery has been disconnected at some point, I know on Toyotas this can cause idle issues because the ECU is relearning throttle positions off a clogged throttle plate, should theoretically be the same for any electronic throttle. Also, after cleaning the throttle, you may even get a high idle DTC, should clear by cycling the key a few times, but may need to disconnect the battery to reset.
By the way, I work at a Toyota dealership, Corollas suck.

ok its been a while and i still havent fixed the problem. Since i posted last ive maybe put 500-800 miles on my car. The issue has not gone away if anything its gotten a little worse. I think the car isnt really idling bad it just seems like that due to the vibration that comes from the car. After some research i think its the engine mount thats causing it. Im going to order replacement mounts tomorrow and replace them all next week. The reason i think its the engine mounts now is i also have new problems. When i release the throttle while moving and coast then re apply the throttle there is knocking noise, also sometimes when the auto transmission shifts there is a knocking noise again.
Ah ha! Yeah, my FG2 vibrates a bit at idle, it's worse with the AC on, but I know my motor is very healthy, so I suspect a mount or some other issue, but I haven't looked into it because it's not all that noticeable yet.
So today the fedex truck payed me a visit with a new beck arnley front right mount part no. 1041999. Fitted it and went for a test drive and problem is gone!
Id just like complete the thread for future searchers of a idle / vibration / shaking problem on the 8th gen civics. Looking at the mount you would never tell its bad. It looks perfect but upon replacing it the car feels like new. My shake came and went some days would be worse than others, one light i stopped at felt terrible then the next not so bad. The shake was so bad it was rattling my interior and i confused it for a fuel air problem due to the fact it wasn't there 100% of the time.
My car shifts slightly harder than what im used to so next im swapping the transmission mount along with the lower torque strut.
Good luck to anyone out there having the issue, hope this helped.

Hey! I found this thread kind of late, but I do have the idle issue when stopped. Actually it's when coming to a complete stop. The RPMs go as low as 500, and only once the battery light turned on right when it was that low. The mounts might make the idle feeling go away, but the real problem will still be there.
When it's hot (>85F), the symptom is more often and noticeable. To me it's an electric issue, and must be related to the throttle body. Unfortunately I have not had any luck. I'm not mechanic, but had a friend do the throttle body. The problem is still there. Any suggestions?
