Default park lockout and rev limit?

hi I recently picked up a pair of 92 accord EX one is a parts car other a pretty nice low mile grandmother car.

well it has 2 problems. the gear lockout solenoid is stuck so you need 2 keys to drive.

the other is it seems like the rev cut for park/neutral is existent in every gear. would the stuck solenoid be a possible cause?

or what else could it be?

it is a 92 EX automatic. (assume to be EX by rear disks car has no lx dx ex badge and the lx 10th was 93 right?)

If the solenoid has failed, or the circuit for it, you should be able to press in the slot and mechanically unlock the shifter from Park lockout. If it relocks upon turning the car to ON or when depressing the pedal then the wiring that unlocks the solenoid may be disconnected.

I don't recall there being any kind of P/N rev limiter.
More than likely, the car is in limp mode limiting rpms to 3K rpm.
Does the check engine light come on when the ignition is turned to ON? If not the bulb may have been removed or is blown out. You will need it to check for emission codes.

If the engine is an F22A1 it is a DX/LX model. EX had the F22A4. There is a pad left of the exhaust manifold and below that will have these identifiers.
IIRC the other check would be to look at the exhaust manifold, if the O2 is installed there it is a DX/LX/A1 engine. The EX/A4 has the O2 installed into the exhaust pipe directly below the intake manifold.

Replacing the brake switch and VTEC Solenoid will most likely solve your problem

sorry I took so long to reply. ive been busy with work and we had tons of snow.

yes the engine is the f22a6 so it is an EX.

for starters I ordered the brake switch and the shift lock solenoid

dont see how a vtec solenoid would help in my situation as one is not present.....

but I will let you guys know as it progresses.

thanks again for your time

Did you check them and the wiring? Or are you just throwing parts at the problem?

well from what I can see. the cruise control works. brake lights work. so I prob dont need the brake switch but its cheap so I figured a new one cant hurt.

as for the shift lockout. it is locked every time it goes into park. it can be manually disengaged
with a spare key but pressing brake and having the car running or off in the run position all yield the same locked gear.

and according to the original owner nothing was ever serviced beyond the maintance. which being a car with 60k miles is good but everything is 21 years old and not used for last 7 years.

there was also an alarm that was half uninstalled. I will be going through the wiring to fully remove and repair the harness to factory fresh maybe il find an extra cut wire.
