Hey guys if you could help answer this...

I recently bid on and won an ebay auction for a "94 SI vtec head".. and I got an email from another ebay member (good lookin out ) saying it was a vtec-e head. Can anyone tell me if it is, and how to tell the difference?

well, I didn't technically get scammed yet... I haven't sent payment cause the auction ended last night. the total is $145 shipped.

the good thing is I can back out of the auction if it is in fact a vtec-e head cause then it would be false advertisment..

wouldn't both motors have that? the SI and the VX?

If he is saying that it is a VTEC-E head it is not from an Si...a VTEC-E is only on the VX civics...both have VTEC solenoids...Im am not sure of the differences between the actual heads...buyer beware!!!

He says in the auction it's a vtec head off a 94 SI... I got an email from a fellow honda enthusiast after the auction was over stating:

"just wanted to let you know,

this is a vtec-e head... this is why i didnt bid and neither did anyone else for that matter...

,a friendly honda racer like yourself"

that is a VX head, the SI(d16z6) head will have a big bar LMA across the top

oh yeah, i know because i had a VX head on my garage floor like a month ago when i did my mini-me

Ahhhh yes, the Lost Motion Assembly holder. Don't know how I missed that one. Doesn't look good my friend. Sorry. I'd still run that check that I was telling you about just to double check.

Yeah, that sucks, but at least you didnt find out after you paid for it. I would suggest sending the seller an e-mail with the pics from this forum and let him know you wont be paying and send another email to ebay letting them know about this members attempt to trick you, which he did by stating it was off a 94 si. Good luck and do a little more research before you bid on something next time.

 

yeah, I will.. thanks. I guess I'm too trusting... I saw the vtec solenoid and just went for it.
