96 Accord basic performance parts?
I know that in general to make those cars much faster, a turbo or an h22 swap is probably necessary. But I was wondering what some basic upgrades were that I could do onto the F22B1 engine without spending a ton (<$1k) and make it faster? I'd like to get it down into the late 7 early 8 0-60 range! Thanks!!
Just do basic things like intake and exhaust upgrades, maybe better tires and lighter flywheel. If you're just aiming for 0-60 in high 7's low 8's, I think those should get it close.
Hondata is a replacement ECU. http://hondata.com/prices.html
After you buy it, the ecu will need to be tuned. If you can't do it uorself, then expect to pay somone to tune the car. And a good tuner will not be cheap. Word of advise, don't go cheap here. It's very important to have a good tune.

To make the CD move off the line quicker would be to replace the transmission with one that has a lower final drive(wagon/ody) or overall lower gear ratios(VTEC Prelude).
Hondata on your car will require the replacement of the ECU with a 94/95 unit. IMO it's not worth it unless you plan on doing further modifications like supercharging the B1, or spending some time on the dyno with a knowledgeable tuner. Someone who can actually tune and extract the most power out of a given drivetrain. Not some beefcake that works only on two types of cars with one type of drivetrain, and only has one 'tune'.
