Hi guys, i have a 92 Accord LX with about 423k on it. It was running all good and fine until i let my brother borrow it about a month ago. I got it back and its now acting strange. The idle (from a cold start) will hit about 1500 and slowly lower to around 900, from there it will rise and fall between 900 and around 1700-1800 rpm. It seems to only do this until it warms up, after that its idling smooth. My question is since i got it back, it now trembles hard as it rises up in rom between 900-1800 at idle it almost feels like it wants to stall sometimes. When i accelerate it also shakes very hard until it hits around 3k-ish rpm then feels like it slips or locks into place and goes fine, while accelerating it will also stutter. I broke my brother down and he finally told me that he gunned it to 120, so im figuring he obviously F-ed something up. Any ideas here guys? Hes paying for it but i'd like to keep the cost down if that's even feasible lol. Thank you in advance.

TL;DR Very rough erratic idle and shaking/sputtering plus a burning smell during acceleration.

 

Try cleaning the IACV and clean and tighten the white thing in the FITV.

What would you reccomend for cleaning out the IACV?

 

Personally i like B-12 chemtool. Remove the IACV and fill it with carb cleaner and let it sit for about half an hour. After i used spray carb cleaner with a straw and sprayed inside of it and also clean the screen on it as well. Till the white thing inside is, well, white again.
