Default 88-91 civic VSS question

My particular vehicle: 90 crx dx, (manual)

I've been shopping around for universal cruise control kits, and I found one I like. Unlike other cruise control kits I've seen which use a speedometer cable pickup or a tachometer pickup, this one says it "uses a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) wire from your engine compartment."

Is the VSS just another word for the speedo cable? or is there something else on these cars which this kit may be referring to? I just want to be sure this kit will work before actually buying it.

In this case, you would probably get the speed pulser/VSS signal by tapping into the Yel/Red wire that runs between the speedometer and the ECU.
