1998 Honda CR-V strange sound - video included
Hi there,
I'm having an issue with my crv as shown in this video:
The sound is coming from the front right wheel only. I only notice it when driving slow (less than 50km/h). The sound is only there when moving. The brakes work really well so I don't think it is them.
It drives well the only thing that bothers me is the sound and I'm hoping its not a symptom of something worse.
Thanks guys

I had that same issue on my old Integra, and it was the brake shield rubbing on the bottom inner side of the brake rotor, near the lower ball joint. This area of the brake shield is prone to damage, since it's the lowest point, and anything that strikes it hard enough can bend it and cause such issue. So Jack your V up, and turn your wheel by hand, locate the rubbing area, then use needle nose pliers to bend it back into a position which will not rub.
worst case a bearing, best case what bones said. It's definitely something on the rotational end of your wheel and just because your brakes stop you well doesn't mean they are still good.
it surprises me how many times I have gotten into a friends car over the years only to tell them their brakes are bad because of how it feels upon braking and they are in total denial. They have no idea their **** is grinding because they drove the car from when the brakes were good up until it is grinding it doesn't happen overnight and its gradual so it's not uncommon for the person who drives it everyday to think it's normal.

It's coming from the brake dust shield. It's either bent or rotten and rubbing the rotor or there's a rock caught between the shield and the rotor.
