How to disable alarm on 2001 accord + key replacement
I only have one key for my 2001 Accord EX that has has factory antitheft. I can't find it anywhere. It is possible I locked it in the car, because I frequently will lock the door from the inside by holding the handle up and locking it. I don't have the key tag, and my wallet is in my car. I'm going to call the dealership tomorrow, but have no idea how long it will take me to get a replacement key, especially without my wallet to prove ownership. I was going to call a locksmith, but figure it will be cheaper just to break the window, which I imagine will set off the alarm.
If I do that, is there a certain window that is cheaper to replace? Can I disable the alarm by disconnecting the battery? And do I need to know anything special about disabling a battery? Or is it better to call a locksmith?
Lastly, does anyone have any clue how expensive it is to have a key replaced when I don't have the key tag number? Am I going to have to wait days for a new key or weeks? I feel like I have completely screwed myself by losing this key now that I think about all the crap that goes with it. Thanks a lot for any help.

I would call the dealership directly first to find out your options.
But also see if you can find anything else that proves you are the owner or had the car serviced with them (title, recall service, other ID's)

My bet is the dealership will tell you that you need to have it towed to them with proof of ownership and they will get keys programmed for it and probably even open the doors for you.
