So I have never really been a fan of the whole HID thing, especially with non-projector type headlights. I also have never gone into any research or know-how of how they work. But my buddy bought a 96 Audi A4 and with one of the headlights being out and he decided to buy a $50 kit with ballasts and bulbs and gave me both 55w ballasts he had in the car. Then I ordered two 9006 55w 6000k bulbs off of eBay for $20.

I brought it up with a different friend and he claimed I would burn out my lighting portion of my harness by using them. Is this true? I can return the bulbs, and the ballasts I got for free so its not any issue there if they will. I want to play it safe, I just thought I might as well use up this resource that was basically handed to me.
